For my portrait photo, I shot my friend Liam sitting at a bus stop on Regent St. While there are many elements in this photograph, it is a portrait because the main subject is Liam. He is captured sitting on the right end of a bus stop, his hands are in his pockets and his gaze shows he is relaxed. The foreground consists of the subject and the bus stop he is seated at, and the background consists of building entrance and a woman talking on the phone. The woman on the phone in the background displays the business of London, however the rest of the bus stop is empty except for the subject. I shot this portrait from across the street, and zoomed in with my lens to frame the bus stop and Liam. I chose to photograph Liam from across the street to give the sense of depth while also capturing Liam in a portrait style. I shot with an f/4 aperture, letting in a moderate amount of light and creating a balanced depth of field in which both the subject and the background are in focus. The mood of this portrait captures the business of London, while also displaying the subjects relaxed nature framed in his posture and setting.
